I offer a range of workshops for young people to older adults that use music as a medium to engage with debates on current topics in civic education and social sciences, such as democracy and community engagement, while developing musical skills and intercultural understanding.
Workshop: Songwriting
Combine songwriting with critical thinking in this interactive workshop designed for young people aged 14 and up. Participants will explore contemporary societal debates and express their perspectives creatively through music.
This workshop encourages collaboration, reflection, and artistic expression, helping young people engage with social topics in a meaningful and inspiring way.

Educational Materials & Workshop Concept:
In collaboration with the Museum of Islamic Art and the Pierre Boulez Saal in Berlin, I developed comprehensive educational materials for music classes, focusing on different modern and classic Arabic music traditions. Designed for grades 9–10, each lesson plan includes a full class session and homework.
The materials can be used as part of a workshop concept for schools, or independently by teachers to introduce students to the rich musical cultures of the Levant. This program serves as an engaging starting point for exploring intercultural music in the classroom.

We explored the differences and similarities in sound and history of the clarinet, guitar, and oud (short-necked lute), learned the Maqsum rhythm and and got to know different tonal systems.

Workshop: Songs of My Childhood
This workshop for older adults in the context of Eastern Germany invites participants to explore songs from their childhood while connecting across generations and cultures. Through music, the ensemble Risha (Arabic for “feather” or “plectrum”) facilitates dialogue, reflection, and exchange, helping to break down prejudices and share memories tied to different musical traditions. Singing combines effortlessly with clarinet, oud, cello, and darbuka, as Risha moves between classical and folk genres, creating a warm and engaging musical experience.
